Psychosocial support to volunteers
Public Group active 3 weeks, 2 days agoVolunteers are the backbone of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, as well as of many other organisations. Their contribution to emergency recovery operations is critical. Volunteers often operate in highly stressful and potentially traumatic situations. We strive to support our volunteers and to give them the tools and resources they need to meet the high demands and expectations that we – and our beneficiaries – place on them. This is both a moral obligation and an organisational necessity.
To strengthen support to volunteers includes ensuring effective psychosocial support. The IFRC Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support is undertaking a study to further develop guidance and tools to better support volunteers.
This group is meant as a place to share ideas, resources and thoughts on psychosocial support to volunteers. Discussions here might feed into the study.
