Illustrations and photos of the Chinese version have been adapted for cultural relevancy. You may download the guide at this link: http://www.who.int/iris/bitstream/10665/44615/17/9789245548201_chi.pdf
Thanks very much for sharing this Eliza. In the context of the Sinhala and Tamil versions, we’d also had some questions about whether WHO would permit adaptation of graphics. Glad to see that they have agreed – did this involve lengthy negotiations or was it fairly straightforward?
Ananda, it’s fairly straightforward. I tried to use stock photos at first but copyright issues are complicated. I then use photos taken by ourselves during field work. Hope it helps.
That’s very good to hear. I may be in touch for advice if we run into challenges. We hope to have ours print-ready within a month or two.
Congratulations on getting the Chinese adaptation completed! I wonder if it was possible for the guide to be used in the recent Sichuan response…
Feel free to let me know if anything I may help. You may also reach me at [email protected].
Yes some agencies have already distributed the guide to field workers responding in the Sichuan earthquake.
Thank you Eliza
