Learning Event #2: Working with community members and workers in the social services

January 17 (Webinar session in English) and January 19 (Webinar Session in French) 2012
1:00pm to 3:00pm GMT (London)

Co-hosted by the Community Child Protection Exchange Forum (childprotectionforum.org) and the Social Welfare Workforce Strengthening Task Force (ovcsupport.net)

In seeking to ensure that social services are available at the community level, many governments and organizations engage with community members, including volunteers, community leaders, mobilization agents, outreach workers, para-social workers and others. The strategies and approaches used for working with community members vary widely across countries, organizations, regions and communities. This webinar will explore emerging issues related to working with community members and community workers in the social services, including issues of voluntarism, accountability, workloads, roles and responsibilities, and sustainability considerations.

Webinar presenters will distill lessons emanating from the health sector, a sector with long experience engaging with community members and outreach workers, as well as share experiences from specific countries where government and international agencies are using a range of approaches to working through community networks to ensure that children and families have access to basic social services. For the first time, the webinar will be offered in both English and French.

**Instructions for using the teleconference option for the audio portion of the webinar:

Please note that in most cases, the standard VO/IP connection, involving the use of a headset, will work best for your experience with the audio in Elluminate. But if you should have any problems with that connection or do not have available the necessary hardware, you can also try the following means of connecting to the audio stream with a phone. This should work with standard landlines or mobile phones.

To connect using the teleconference option, once you have logged into the webinar, click on the hand-set icon in the Audio area, located in the lower left-hand side of the screen. Make sure you click on the icon highlighted below, and not the little rotary phone icons running along the bottom of the screen:

After clicking on that, you will see the following pop-up which will give you dialing instructions for joining the audio portion of the webinar through your phone:
