The purpose of this Guide  is to offer a sustainable approach that is led by communities rather than by experts or non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Community led approaches can take many forms, but all of them feature community power, dialogue, and decision-making-including by children. Community-led approaches generate high levels of community ownership, enable stronger harm prevention and sustainability, and decrease dependency on NGOs and externally-led child protection initiatives.

The IASC Common Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for MHPSS Programmes was released for field test in 2017. In 2021, the Common Framework was updated to include qualitative and quantitative means of verification (MoV) for impact-level indicators in the framework. MHPSS.net developed the IASC MHPSS M&E Framework MoV toolkit to accompany the framework and serve as a resource to maintain and disseminate these tools in a single, easy to use format.

The Mapping and Assessment (M&A) Report Repository is a collection of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) assessments, mappings, and desk reviews. Developed as part of the 2024 update to the Multi-sectoral MHPSS Assessment Toolkit by the IASC MHPSS Reference Group, it provides practitioners with resources to inform decisions and enhance practices in humanitarian settings. The registry supports a multi-sectoral approach to MHPSS, ensuring interventions meet the diverse needs of affected populations.
